At the Gateway House of Prayer – St. Louis our primary goal is nothing less than seeing the fullness of God’s rule and will established in the earth. "Pray, then, in this way: 'Our Father who is in heaven, Hallowed be Your name. Your kingdom come. Your will be done, On earth as it is in heaven'". (Matthew 6:9-10) We see the outworking of this in the following primary ways: - The lost hearing the Gospel and being saved
- The Church being equipped and strengthened
- The sick being healed
- The poor, the widow, and the orphan being ministered to in practical ways
We believe that this is accomplished only when the Body of Christ stands together in agreement and prays to the Father in Jesus’ Name, as Jesus taught us to.
At GHOP-STL, we are trying, in the grace of God, to establish a place of 24 hour a day, 7 day a week, non-stop worship and prayer. We are inviting any Christian fellowship in the St. Louis area to join with us. We desire GHOP-STL to be a unified, city-wide voice that cries out night and day before the Throne of God for the coming of His Kingdom and the fulfillment of His will in St. Louis. For our current prayer room schedule click here GHOP-STL is NOT a church, and we are not looking for members to leave their churches to join us. We want people who are involved in their own local church to REMAIN involved there, and simply join us in praying without lessening their involvement at their church.
We use 2 basic formats during this time: devotional and intercessory. Devotional: This format consists of a worship leader or team ministering to the Lord through music and song for 2 hours, providing an anointed atmosphere for individuals to meet with God. This is not a corporate time so much as a time for individuals to sit before the Lord and encounter Him in His Word. Intercession: The goal of this format is for those who are in the prayer room to corporately intercede in unity for a specific goal. During the 2 hour shift, the worship never ceases and the prayer is mixed with the worship. A prayer leader provides direction for the prayer and prays directly from the scriptures. The singers sing spontaneous short songs in response to this foundational biblical prayer. Often a chorus is developed which is sung over and over. We call this methodology “Harp and Bowl” because of the mixing of worship and prayer as seen in Revelation 5:8: “….the four living creatures and the twenty-four elders fell down before the Lamb each one holding a harp and golden bowls full of incense which are the prayers of the saints.”
